Bar Italia SC join the big boys for charity single
We're more used to kickstarts than wah-wah pedals but on Sunday 30th January, the club rode out to East London to join some of the Mod scene's greatest after answering a call to help out on the latest all-star charity single.
The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood, Reg Presley, Fay Hallam, Mark Joesph, PP Arnold and Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock were among those who signed up for Mod Aid 20, a rock music alternative to Band Aid. Naturally - when the organisers found themselves in need of a few scooterists to join in the video and photo shoot, we stepped in to lend a hand down at Gizzard Recording Studio, E3.
Twenty years ago when the first Band Aid single was released, “Spectrum” (featuring Steve Marriott, Chris Farlowe, PP Arnold...) brought Mod musicians together to raise money for the Band Aid Charity and Ronnie Lane’s ARMS Charity through the “All Or Nothing” single and subsequent concert. But this year's effort, hoping to follow Band Aid's success before Christmas, will split proceeds between famine-stricken countries in Africa and communities hit by the Asian tsunami.
